Isn't it amazing? I sometimes wonder if i got involved with #scuttlebutt, #enspiral, and the #ehf as a excuse to get to spend more time in New Zealand. Or if NZ is all the cooler because of them.... either way it's pretty wonderful.

yea so.. somethinng that definelty wasn't fun was the travle getting there.. 6.5 + 11 + 7 hours in a plane + some lay over.. I don't travel often and didn't do a long haul (more then 2-3hrs total) in years. This was quite the drain... Experiencing dawn two times in 24hrs definitly plays weird things on your brain.

1_flight_to_dubai.jpg
polling the time left like a mad person, only 6hrs in...

2_dubai_skyline.jpg
i have lots of thoughts about monarchys but flying over it at night was much more impressive than this squishy photo is able to reproduce.

3_suddenly_bali.jpg
and about 11hrs later you somehow come to your sense and get thrown out of air conditioned plane into 35degC Bali.. Hits you like a wall.

4_cryptix_where_am_i.jpg
this is me wondering where I suddenly am. An hour and some fuel refilling later we did the third long stretch to auckland.

5_bali_to_auckland.jpg
the last haul definitly felt the longest. i listened to podcasts and passed out a little here and there but I don't think I managed to sleep for more than 6hrs total during the whole trip. Butt after getting here..! wow this land and it's people are quite impressive. coming from gray hamburg (regular <10degC last weeks) to this weather very very wow!

@cryptix

so I wanted to add some more thought's butt @mix said they are still effecitve without much added context so let's see (these are just from my first day here (saturday)):

1_crab_meet.jpeg
so this is me, @mix with @Ziva and @aljoscha

2_nz_farmers_market.jpeg
before going on the walk up to the windfarm, mikey and I also visited a farmers market in new town.
the striking difference to the ones I know from home is that you just pick yourself what you want and then go to the counter where they weigh it and you pay.
At ours the product is basically at the counter and the shopping person says 50counts of this, please and they weigh and pack it up but.. i never thought much about it but this here feels nicer somehow. I don't like asking for stuff.. especially when I'm not sure what its called etc.

3_nz_suburbia.jpeg
One odd thing that I had to mull over and challenge is that this kind of suburbia here all looks a lot like american suburbia.
Thing is: I never really was in america. It's just what I have in mind from the movies/series, if that makes any sense. It's purly optical illusion, so to speak, though. The left driving is a good indicator.

4_wat.jpeg
@Mikey and I found these while walking up to the wind turbine. Don't ask me why.

5_cryptix_looking_at_thinks.jpeg
Just another foto of that view. Looking at it again, what sticks out to me: no houses!!

6_fern_growing.jpeg
mikey also told me quite some interesting things about flora and fauna in NZ.
condensed: natuarlly it only eveolved up to birds and ferns, basically.
Everything else (like rodents and other kinds of plants) was dragged in by humans... @mix told me the people here love birds and are willing to vicously kill everything else (since they realised what a touchy thing an ecosystem is).
